How To Make Indent In Excel

I currently have a sheet in excel with an indented hierarchy of items as shown below. Each item is indented (four spaces per indent) to show how it fits into the overall hierarchy. I have been able to create a 'Level' column that translates the indentation level into a number. When you want to indent the content in one, or more cells: Click to highlight one or more cells. In the Home tab in the Alignment section click the Increase indent button (it has an arrow to the right). This indents the content two character spaces.

What is Excel VBA Indentation?

Indentation represents some spaces at the beginning of a new row of sentence. Indentation is not a word reserved for VBA, it is a word that also appears in Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheet and even Powerpoint. Indentation is also used for all kinds of computer programming.

In VBA coding, indentation is not mandatory, which means it does not cause compile error if you miss it, but it is definitely a good practice for you or for others to follow your code easily. There is no black and white rule for what code needs to be indented, but there are generally acceptable rules.

VBE Option – Auto Indent

VBE (Visual Basic Editor) has an option called Auto Indent, but it does not automatically indent all lines of code. Auto Indent functions when you press Enter key to start a new line, if the code before you press Enter has indentation, the new line will begin at the position of the previous indentation. If you don't turn on the Auto Indent function, the next line will start on the left.

In VBE, navigate to Tools > Options >Editor Tab

Check the box Auto Indent to enable the option, you can also specify Tab width, the default value is 4, you can leave it as is.

How To Make An Indent In Excel Cell

Hello.
I need to indent text data in a cell with upon each entry the same way you would be able to format a paragraph in Word with the 'space above and space below' options. I thought I found exactly what I needed in Excel Help which states exactly the following:
'To indent text from the left, right, or both sides of the cell, in the Horizontal box, click Left (Indent), Right (Indent), or Distributed (Indent). Then, in the Indent box, click the amount of indent you want.'
'To indent text from the top, bottom, or both top and bottom of the cell, in the Vertical box, click Top (Indent), Bottom (Indent), or Distributed. Then, in the Indent box, click the amount of indent you want.'

The problem is that when I go to the Vertical Alignment, I do NOT have either of those options. (The 'Top (Indent)' or the 'Bottom (Indent)'). I DO have the 'Left (Indent)' and 'Right (Indent)' in the Horizontal Alignment area.
Any ideas where my Top (Indent) and Bottom (Indent) options are??
Thanks!
